There is something about the craft of great storytelling, the truly magical nature of a tale so perfectly executed that just grabs the heart strings of its audience and never lets go. It’s rare, but something we should be used to from Pixar.

Familiar names like Almodovar, Tarantino, Lee, Von Trier, Noe, Campion, Loach, and Haneke will all be vying for the Palme d’Or.

Besides the mandatory Defensive Driving Class I had to take, The Oscars was the most educational experience of my year so far. Hopefully, you caught the same things I did. Or we’ll have to fight back behind the playground later.

As is customary this time of year, it is my duty (and honor) to present you my list of the Ten Best Films of 2008. And in the past year we’ve seen an interesting range of films, have we not?

Just as Disney’s early animated films seem to have something magical about them, Pixar has ushered in a new era of delighting audiences. And with WALL-E, they seem to have found the magic once again.

Let’s look back on one of the best movie summers ever with this classic preview of big releases of 2008.
