Shot by Shot with ‘The Irishman’ Trailer

Check out a digitally de-aged Robert De Niro having the time of his life.

The Irishman

He doesn’t drink on the job.

He’s never assaulted anyone.

This shot features a recreation of Villa Di Roma, an old restaurant in South Philadelphia that was frequented by criminals. This is also where the real Frank Sheeran reported to Angelo Bruno, who was the boss of a notable Philly crime family for over two decades.

Frank’s attorney introduces him to his cousin Russell Bufalino (Joe Pesci). Of course, witnessing De Niro and Pesci shaking hands is a beautiful sight that feels more like old friends catching up, given that they’ve both appeared together in some of the best mobster movies ever made.

Every gangster movie needs a scene where a car blows up in the street.

Here, Frank compares his hitman job to his time spent in the military. As long as he follows orders and does the right thing, he’ll get rewarded.
