Shot by Shot with the ‘Midsommar’ Trailer

Is it scary? Ummmm...yup.
Midsommar

Christian tells Dani that they “Just need to acclimate.” What they’re experiencing is nothing more than climate and culture shock. Dani calls BS on that. “I don’t want to acclimate. I want to go.” He should listen, but he’s a dumb, know-it-all-man and deserves the trouble he’s about to find himself within.

Siv sets her sights on the couple. Over her shoulder, it appears that one of the tourists that came in with Dani has joined the ranks of the white-robbed celebrators. Was she part of their clan all along, or does this ceremony add members to their flock as part of the process. Is there an invitation for Dani as well?

Seemingly responding to Dani’s request to leave, this dignified Swede answers, “Absolutely not.” The ritual can’t be halted once begun. All parties are in it till the end. The way the light halos his facial hair and clothing gives him a sense of divine authority.

One of the drummers from the maypole ceremony leads a gathering in front of a cliff face. A circle-dance is not enough to keep the land and people fertile. There must be blood.

A pair of feet magically raise off the ground. We also see another pair levitating in the background. Um, is Paimon here too? That rascal could grant flight to headless corpses.

A concerned look from Josh. He had no need for Hälsingegårdars. Give him more of that special property liquid.

Back around the table feast, a tipsy Christian gives an old man the stink eye.

The old man is only too happy to mess with Christian’s senses. His clap startles Christian, but it also causes a ripple in the reality around him.
