The last time we spoke of your mother’s favorite filmmaker, Nancy Meyers, she had lined up two new projects (The Intern and The Chelsea) that both sounded a bit out of the box for the director, but now it looks as if the Something’s Gotta Give and The Holiday creator will return to her more traditional, Pottery Barn-infused roots.
A new press release from Sony reveals that Meyers will direct an untitled film that ‐ interestingly enough ‐ comes from an original script by (500) Days of Summer and The Spectacular Now scribes Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. Meyers has rewritten the script herself, but it reportedly centers on the “ol’ American gal in Europe” trope, as it follows “the life of an American young woman gets turned upside down when she begins dating a very unlikely young man. The complexities that follow are bigger than both of them. The comedy is set entirely in the UK, the film will have an all British cast with the exception of the female lead.” Just how unlikely is this young man? Is he a prince or something?
