The Force is Strong in This First Look at Wonder Woman

The first image has been released for Wonder Woman, featuring Gal Gadot as the titular heroine. And it might be that we are currently viewing everything through the lens of Star Wars, but I’m sensing a little bit of The Force in this photo. It’s the woolen hood, really. It’s hard not to see Jedi, even though it’s clearly Wonder Woman in front of what appears to be Big Ben in London.

Warner Bros. sent out a press release to accompany the photo, announcing some new cast members. The film will also star “Chris Pine (the “Star Trek” films) as Captain Steve Trevor, Robin Wright (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” Netflix’s “House of Cards”), Danny Huston (“Clash of the Titans,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”), David Thewlis (the “Harry Potter” films, “The Theory of Everything”), Ewen Bremner (“Exodus: Gods and Kings,” “Snowpiercer”), Saïd Taghmaoui (“American Hustle”), Elena Anaya (“The Skin I Live In”) and Lucy Davis (“Shaun of the Dead”).”

The film, which will be shot on location in the UK, France and Italy, has created a very solid bench of talent to go along with the previously announced Gadot, Pine and director Patty Jenkins. It’s taken them 75 years to get a Wonder Woman film into production, so hopefully it will have been worth the wait.

Wonder Woman is due in theaters in 2017.
