SFotD: ‘True Skin’ is Astonishing Indie Sci-Fi That You Have To See

Why Watch? It’s rare that we get to see the emergence of a filmmaker from relative obscurity to mainstream success, and that may not be the case here, but it sure feels like it. Stephan Zlotescu and cinematographer H1 have built an entire futuristic universe here from a box of old sci-fi parts, some fantastic CGI and a dash of neo-noir creativity.

Plus, an inside source tells me that Zlotescu is going to be meeting with the major studios this week to pitch a feature length version. From the looks of it, they’d be smart to take notice. And so should we. This might be a Blomkampian birth of a new voice in science fiction, and we’re here to see the conception.

Even if none of the business end follows through, this is still a short film that’s cool as hell. Gorgeous, a little dark and massively entertaining. I, for one, would love to see the long-form story behind it all.

What will it cost you? Only 6 minutes.
