This announcement has been a long, obvious time coming, but Mark Wahlberg has informed MTV that he plans on making Entourage a reality on the big screen.
As a fan of the show, it seems like a natural progression, but it’s also a dangerous step specifically for the type of show that “Entourage” is.
Just like it’s HBO counterpart “Sex and the City,” there will be an issue with taking the tone of the show and translating it to the big screen – to stretching a single situation into a feature length run time. This will probably be made more difficult by the fact that nothing ever happens on the show (and that’s a good thing), and that the show deals specifically with Hollywood. There’s something easier about television dealing with a movie star that won’t be as easy when it comes to a movie dealing with a movie star.
There’s no word yet on the plot, but Wahlberg mentioned the possibility of hard-nosed agent Ari waking up in Vegas with his assistant Lloyd and not remembering the night before. Also no word on whether that’s a genuine suggestion, part of Wahlberg’s fanfic collection, or if he’d just watched The Hangover the night before the interview.
