Gibson Might be a ‘Cold Warrior’ for Shane Black

If you’ve wanted Mel Gibson to team up with Shane Black again, you might get your shot soon. Gibson is in negotiations to star in a spy flick called Cold Warrior that will be directed by Black – the man who wrote the Lethal Weapon series.

If this goes through, keep your fingers crossed that Black will team with Long Kiss Goodnight star Samuel L. Jackson again, too. Or in this very film. Either way.

According to Variety, the movie sees Gibson as the Too Old For This Shit spy who emerges from a nice retirement in order to help a younger spy against a Russian terrorism threat. I have to assume that threat must be t.a.T.u.

However, Black won’t actually be writing the movie. He finds himself in the director’s chair – a position he hasn’t been in since Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

Newcomer Chuck Mondry wrote the script.

With Edge of Darkness coming out this week, The Beaver being shoved into our faces later this year, and How I Spent My Summer Vacation, it looks like Gibson is back in the swing of being in front of the camera after 9 years of being away.

What do you think?
