First Teaser for Green Room Builds Unbearable Tension In Sixty Seconds

A24

Jeremy Saulnier’s Green Room is on track to be one of the best films of the year, and that’s no mere blind prediction. We saw it a few months ago and have been singing its praises since, but a 2016 release date meant it was ineligible for our Best of 2015 rankings. Trust me in that had it opened this year it would have sat quite high on two or three of our lists.

The film follows the young members of a punk band who suffer the misfortune of playing a gig for neo-Nazis in a remote Pacific Northwest club before running into trouble backstage. What follows is equal parts exhilarating and terrifying, not to mention stressful, panic-inducing, and horrific. There’s a reason it’s one of my favorites of 2015 and most anticipated of 2016.

Empire Online has just released the first teaser from A24, and happily it manages to avoid anything resembling spoilers. Check out this first teaser for a taste of the tension, terror, and pure evil that is Patrick Stewart (and then watch nothing else from the film until it opens in theaters.)

Green Room opens in limited release on April 1st and expands wide on April 15th.
