Bryan Singer to Become a ‘Giant Killer’

By  · Published on September 23rd, 2009

After having every single person with a television watching “House” the other night, Bryan Singer has officially come back into the spotlight. He’s already signed on for Battlestar Galactica and Excalibur, but now he’s also adding a twisted version on a classic story with Jack the Giant Killer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director will be tackling the Princess search-and-rescue mission for New Line. The story focuses on the kidnapping of a Princess and a young farmer who must venture into Giant territory to get her back.

So, yeah. Bryan Singer. Great.

But that’s not what I care about. What I care about is that the script is from Mark Bomback, the writer of Live Free or Die Hard. That’s right – we have to assume that an updated fairy tale figure will be yelling Yippee Ki-Yay while he’s stealing a golden goose.

Genius. Pure, unadulterated genius. Of course, Bomback also wrote Godsend, the new Race to Witch Mountain and the sex thriller Deception so he’s proven himself to be all over the board when it comes to genres.

I’m guessing that as long as Jack isn’t in a Superman suit, fans should be alright with it.

What do you think?
