The Associated Press reports that The Phantom is getting a remake, of sorts. I’ll give you a minute to digest that news. No, really, take your time.

Variety is reporting that Norrington has signed on to write and direct a remake of The Crow, a film best known for the death of star Brandon Lee.

Platinum Dunes’ remake machine can’t be kept down for long. After acknowledging that their plans for a Near Dark reboot have been scrapped due to it’s remarkable similarity to Twilight, the production company has green-lit a start date for their re-imagining of A Nightmare On Elm Street.

Sure, Twilight successfully lowered the bar dramatically when it comes to the quality of bestselling fiction and film. But it also may have put a stop to an unnecessary remake, so that’s a plus.
