Roy responds, “I’m steady, calm, ready to do my job to the best of my abilities.” He’s a better man than us. He looks up, and we see an explosion reflect in his helmet.

Boom! The top of the space elevator erupts.

Roy plummets from the elevator. Gravity, am I right?

With a space elevator hopefully comes advances in free-fall parachute technology. “I will remain calm,” he says with eyes clamped shut.

Roy survives his fall to Earth. Donald Sutherland as Colonel Pruitt lurks in the background. What is his connection to Roy? Based on what we see later on in the trailer, he has experience in space travel and could be a former colleague of Roy’s rogue daddy.

“I will remain focused.” While he fears for the father he lost to the stars, Roy’s wife waits for his mind and body to return to Earth. Liv Tyler is trapped in the role of the planet-bound, understanding wife. Hopefully, the film will reveal more justification for her character.
