As the calendar flipped over from December to January, we gave you a massive list of our 52 most anticipated movies of 2015. And in our own ego-driven madness, we were certain that such a list would serve as the final word on the upcoming films of the new year. As it turns out, everyone is making a list. It’s for good reason: 2015 is about to be one of the most awesome years of movies we’ve seen in a long time. We’ve got huge comic book movies, funky sci-fi, the rebirth of several major franchises and all kinds of stuff in-between.

With the largeness of looking off into the horizon in mind, we’d like to share with you some other lists of note in an attempt to provide context, compile a consensus and ultimately just give you a bunch of movies to drool over for the coming year.

The chart below pulls information from a number of sources. We’ve included our own top 25 as well as expert lists from our friends Peter Sciretta at /Film and the staff of ScreenRant. Then we wanted the people’s opinion, so we’ve included the user-driven lists from the indispensable movie nerd resource Letterboxd and the wide-ranging behemoth IMDB MovieMeter.

Here is the result:

What can we learn from this data?

First and foremost, that there are several movies that are clear favorites. This includes:

There are also a number of movies that appear on every list, including:

There is some parity in the lists, especially when it comes to the bigger, more obvious titles. One could easily fill out predictions based on the highest grossing movies of 2015 and the 7 movies above would almost always end up in the top 10. Once you get beyond those big time films, there’s a wealth of diversity. The experts on the left half of the chart favor films like Magic Mike XXL, Cameron Crowe’s Untitled Hawaii Project and Kingsman: The Secret Service. When we scan to the right, where picks are aggregated from thousands of users on two of the most popular gathering places for movie fans, we start to see titles such as The Hunger Games: Mockingjay: Part 2, Cinderella, Fifty Shades of Grey and the bro-tastic big screen version of Entourage.

The big conclusion from all this: there are a lot of movies coming to theaters in 2015 with a lot of potential. It could very well be a great year. And this is purely based off of the films we already know about. Who knows what might emerge from film festivals throughout the year.

Are you excited about 2015 at the movies? You should be.
