The sequel launches on National Weed Day. Enough said.

After 17 years, everybody’s favorite law enforcement team is back in action. There are two available takes for this news. You are super excited to see new exploits from the Super Troopers — Mac, Thorny, Foster, Rabbit, and Farva — or you aren’t interested in taking your child to relive your youth. That’s what happens when a sequel to a cult classic comes out much later than the original.

Demand has been strong, evident in Super Troopers 2 launching an IndieGoGo campaign to get the series up and running again and that effort resulting in one of the most successful crowdfunding campaigns ever for a film, second only to the Veronica Mars movie.

Super Troopers 2 is a project from the comedy and film making team of Broken Lizard. Not only are they responsible for the original Super Troopers, but they have films such as Club Dread, BeerFest, and Puddle Cruiser to their name. Despite attempts to make other properties, they’ve mostly become synonymous with Super Troopers.

Rob Lowe has joined the sequel as Guy Le Franc, a former hockey player and the current mayor of a Quebec border town. This is where the Troopers will challenge a team of Mounties when they discover that this small Canadian border town is actually on American soil.

Official synopsis:

Everyone’s favorite law enforcement team is back by popular demand with the long anticipated follow up to the cult comedy classic…SUPER TROOPERS. When an international border dispute arises between the U.S. and Canada, the Super Troopers- Mac, Thorny, Foster, Rabbit and Farva, are called in to set up a new Highway Patrol station in the disputed area. Unconventional police work follows, and the result is…SUPER TROOPERS 2.

The original cult classic has had countless fans throughout the years and Super Troopers 2 gives everyone the opportunity to take a victory lap. And there is no better date to release this film than April 20th.
