‘Norwegian Ninja’ Trailer Is All Kinds Of Nutty Goodness

When you hear the word ‘ninja’ what country comes to mind? If you answered ‘Japan’ I’m sorry to be the one to tell you this but you’re quite obviously a racist.

But if you said ‘Norway’ than you’re already one step ahead of the rest of the world in their understanding and awareness of perhaps the most elite fighting force ever assembled (in Norway). It’s the true story, in a manner of speaking, of Arne Treholt, a Norwegian diplomat who was convicted in 1984 of high treason and espionage. The story ends there as far as most people are concerned, but the “truth” is actually far more interesting. And ninja-fied.

Check out the trailer below, and prepare yourself for the best movie ever made about Norwegian ninjas.

Nuts doesn’t even begin to describe it.

The folks over at Cult Labs have put together a damn entertaining blog about the film, Norway, and the ninja connection, and it’s well worth a read. Check it out here. In addition to some background info on Norwegian Ninja’s writer/director and a playlist of various ninja film trailers you’ll find some truly humorous odds and ends. My favorite?

Many Norwegians are truly and deeply frustrated by the fact we’ve never managed to find our Bergman or Von Trier, but perhaps at least some of them will now be able to entertain the idea that the absence of such a figurehead is arguably one of our strengths. We don’t need to be arty like the Swedes, and we don’t need to be… well, whatever the hell it is the Danes actually are.”

Norwegian Ninja hits DVD in the UK on April 18th.

Rob Hunter has been writing for Film School Rejects since before you were born, which is weird seeing as he's so damn young. He's our Chief Film Critic and Associate Editor and lists 'Broadcast News' as his favorite film of all time. Feel free to say hi if you see him on Twitter @FakeRobHunter.
