Who will be victorious in the Game Of Thrones? No one will know until it airs.
Even though the season seven of Game of Thrones just ended, the creators and HBO are full steam ahead for the final season. The producers want to no one to know the true finale until it airs, so they are recording multiple versions. Morning Call had an interview with HBO’s president of programming where he discusses this latest news.
“I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really know what happens,” HBO’s President of Programming Casey Bloys said. “You have to do that on a long show. Because when you’re shooting something, people know. So they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that there’s no real definitive answer until the end.” HBO certainly isn’t only worried about loose lips spoiling the finale, but perhaps worried that pirates would leak an ending before they were able to air it.
There is not unusual when dealing with high profile television shows. HBO’s The Sopranos and AMC’s Breaking Bad filmed multiple endings to keep the finales secret. With something as high profile and anticipated as Game of Thrones finale this makes perfect sense. There is also the big deal of how difficult it is to nail the perfect ending. Television shows that make it to the end of the series often have a hard time wrapping everything up in a satisfying manner. Breaking Bad is probably the biggest exception to that with its satisfying ending.
With Game of Thrones filming multiple endings, we can take the opportunity to guess what some of those endings might be. The most obvious will be that Jon Snow (aka King of the North, aka Aegon Targaryen) will assume the throne with his aunt/lover Daenerys Targaryen. I imagine that would be the ‘happy’ ending to the series. There could also be incredibly dark finales like Cersei watching helplessly while the White Walkers destroy King’s Landing. Of course, the White Walkers would’ve destroyed everyone and everything on their way. Given it is the Game of Thrones, someone will have to take that place among all others.
Production on the final season of Game of Thrones will start at the end of this year and continue into 2018. It might not be until 2019 to see the finale of the series. Everyone in Westeros better prepare because the White Walkers are coming.
