Those in charge of marketing X-Men: Days of Future Past have been subjecting their audience to a long succession of teases, poking and prodding but never revealing anything of substance. That trend continues today with a blueprint of a Sentinel head, showing all the inner workings of the X-Men’s robotic nemeses.
On the one hand, this is a cool little piece of marketing. On the other, I’d really like to see a Sentinel in action, and a diagram of a Sentinel head’s Flair Control (with radar!) doesn’t really compare. But hey, for all we know, this blueprint might have some plot significance that no one’s realized it. Maybe the secret to stopping the Sentinels lies in their “Visor Style Variable Only on Model S6” (or maybe it’s “56”- kinda hard to tell).
Eventually, a real trailer will be released, and we’ll finally see Wolverine meet his swingin’ 70s counterparts, a mustachioed Peter Dinklage warn of the mutant menace and Magneto held powerless against a giant purple robot that I’m assuming is made of plastic. But for now, those clamoring for some Sentinel action will have to make do with the little scraps we’ve been given, like the film’s viral site and some Sentinel head and body shots. And if you’re really desperate, go take a look at the Trask Inhibitor Collar that’s also up on the official X-Men twitter page (link below). That should provide momentary relief.
