War Machine

A little over a week ago an Iron Man 3 set photo made its way around the Internet that had fans of comics scratching their collective heads. It showed what appeared to be James Badge Dale wearing the red, white, and blue armor that Norman Osborn donned in the recent comic book, “Dark Avengers,” where he performed superheroics under the name the Iron Patriot. This made no sense, as Osborn is a character that Sony has the exclusive movie rights to, and Dale was already reported as playing a cyborg character named Coldblood-7. The best theory we could come up with at the time was that the characters of Coldblood-7 and the Iron Patriot were getting merged for the upcoming film in order to create a fancy, new uber-villain – but it turns out this isn’t the case at all.

What is Movie News After Dark? This is a question that I am almost never asked, but I will answer it for you anyway. Movie News After Dark is FSR’s newest late-night secretion, a column dedicated to all of the news stories that slip past our daytime editorial staff and make it into my curiously chubby RSS ‘flagged’ box. It will (but is not guaranteed to) include relevant movie news, links to insightful commentary and other film-related shenanigans. I may also throw in a link to something TV-related here or there. It will also serve as my place of record for being both charming and sharp-witted, but most likely I will be neither of the two. I write this shit late at night, what do you expect?

You know the deal, we like movies, but not necessarily every little bit. Iron Man 2 comes out on the positive side with 10 things we liked, but 5 we didn’t.

Usually when I say that you ‘must see’ something, I’m not looking to lead you astray. How could this possibly be any different?

He’s still got a year to go on Iron Man 2, but when asked at Comic-Con about The Avengers, the director had to weigh in on his excitement. Now with video!

War Machine Concept Art

To say the least, its hard out here for a pimp, especially when you’re tryin’ to get that salary bump for the sequel. That said, this concept art would have me agreeing to a pay cut.

War Machine Fan Art

SR reader Diego just sent over this obvious, yet still pretty slick photoshop job of what War Machine could possibly look like in Iron Man 2. Check it out.

The two cutest versions of Iron Man and War Machine were drawn by Jason Quinones, who describes these drawings as more of an “Iron Boy.”

Iron Man Billboard at Madison Square Garden

If you’re a mugger waiting around Madison Square Garden for the occasional clueless tourist to wander by, you might have something new to reckon with. The ad wizards at Marvel have installed a six story tall Iron Man outside the building glaring down with that silver stare at would-be evil-doers.

Will War Machine be in the new Iron Man movie? His toy is at Wal-Mart!
