‘Knights of Badassdom’ Presumed Dead; Now Picked Up for Distribution

You may remember Joe Lynch’s upcoming film, Knights of Badassdom. The film, which stars Peter Dinklage, Ryan Kwanten, Steve Zahn and Summer Glau, tells the tale of a motley crew of LARPers (Live Action Role-Players) who unwittingly release a demon in the world, and must turn their fantasy heroics into real ones in order to destroy said demon.

And I say “you may remember” because since the film’s debut at Comic-Con two years ago, news on Knights of Badassdom has all but dried up entirely. The few things to be heard about the film were not pleasant- namely, that its production company, IndieVest, removed Lynch from the film and that IndieVest owner Wade Bradley recut the film as he saw fit. This story broke back in March of this year; since then, there’s been no word of any developments.

But don’t give up hope just yet. According to Collider, the film has been picked up for distribution by eOne entertainment, who plan to do a day and date release in theaters and on VOD (releasing it on both formats on the same day). As of now, there’s no word on which cut eOne will be releasing- Lynch’s or IndieVest’s. If it turns out to be the latter, viewers will be left with a thoroughly unpleasant choice. Support a butchered version of the film, or don’t support it at all?

Hopefully it won’t come down to that. Check out an older trailer for Knights of Badassdom and keep your fingers crossed.
