‘Wonder Woman 2’: What Can We Expect?

Where and when could we see Diana saving the day in the sequel? Who should her next villain be? Will the few loose ends left at the end of Wonder Woman be tie

The Message

As long as the platform is there, and Jenkins can say anything in the world right now, she might as well use it to the fullest. A gentle pro-feminist, Diana is intelligent and classy but beautiful enough to get just about anyone to sit down and listen to what she has to say. She is able to convey the frustration and conflicts of being a woman in a masculine society yet does so without bashing men. In the months following the US presidential election, society has seen an uproar of protests from women and men, insistent that rights of women need to be refined. Wonder Woman couldn’t have pushed the message forward more if it tried.

Wonder Woman serves as mouthpiece for the modern woman, capable of saying all the things we can’t aways say ourselves. She demands respect and unyielding understanding, qualities most women can relate too. In regards to the sequel, I wonder what strong-minded male official she’s going to stumble across next, for what cause will this male represent, and most importantly, how will Diana defeat him. A tiny part of me can’t help but hope for a character paralleling Donald Trump in the sequel, as it’s apparent Diana is our only hope to rationalize with a force so abundant.

In the Meantime

Fans are going to have to wait a while to see what’s in store for Wonder Woman in the sequel, whenever it may be made and released, but Gadot does reprise the role very soon in Justice League, out this November. As a follow-up to Batman Vs. Superman, the movie will pick up with Bruce Wayne/Batman assembling a group of heroes, including Wonder Woman, as well as the Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg (and eventually the resurrected Superman) to defeat Steppenwolf, among other evils.

Inter-Franchise Crossover?

As for where else we’d like to see her, fans are shipping her in dream crossovers with Marvel heroes Captain America, Captain Marvel, and Thor, and Gadot isn’t helping to discourage desires for at least one of them to happen. In a video from an interview by Katie Couric, the actress poses this question to Thor star Chris Hemsworth:

“They ask me, who would win: Wonder Woman or Thor? And I think it’s Wonder Woman. Don’t you, Chris?”

Like any person who’s clearly seen Wonder Woman would do, Hemsworth quickly agreed and tweeted:

“I think she’d kick Thor’s a**”

By this point, DC and Marvel fans alike were up in the air with excitement, taking to twitter to demand a clash between the two. Like adding fuel to a forest fire, Gadot tweeted back:

Cue the fans screeching.

The crossover battle between the similarly mythology based Wonder Woman and Thor would be a guaranteed hit, but who knows if Warner Bros. and Marvel/Disney could ever actually agree to make that happen. Someday there will probably be a huge DC vs. Marvel movie, and those two heroes will definitely have to go head to head, but that day may be long past the time of Gadot and Hemsworth’s involvement in their respective cinematic universes.

It’s fine, no rush. For now, most of us are still basting in the ambiance of having the first badass, female superhero.
