Zack and Miri Make a Porno received substantial press for its bawdy title, but the trend actually started years before with salaciously-titled films like The Lost Boys, Free Willy, Inside Man, and The Midnight Meat Train. The latest movie title bound to push the buttons of middle America is A Good Old Fashioned Orgy. The film stars Saturday Night Live‘s Jason Sudeikis as Eric, a thirty-something still living at home with his parents. His father, played by Don Johnson, decides to sell the house so Eric plans one last party… one he hopes to turn into an orgy.
Co-star Lake Bell spoke with MTV and said “It’s like The Big Chill, but with an orgy at the end. Or is there? They invite you over for it, but whether it happens, that’s a whole ‘nother can of worms.” Basically, it sounds like one big tease for yuppies and fishermen. The film also stars fellow SNL alum Will Forte, Leslie Bibb, and Lindsay Sloane as a friend who tries to steer the orgy gang towards bible study, but ends up immersed in sin anyway. I’ll reserve judgment until the film is released next year, but it sounds like Apatow-lite. That, plus this cast, means the title may be the riskiest thing about it.
