Watch: ‘Sportsfan’ is a Thrilling Document of an NFL Team’s Comeback

By  · Published on August 2nd, 2012

Why Watch? Made as a final project for a University editing class, this documentary from Matt Ware shows just how instrumental solid editing can be. Made up entirely of archival footage, it chronicles San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith as he goes from being booed by thousands of his own fans to leading his team alongside coach Jim Harbaugh to an unbelievable 2011 season.

Ware distills an entire season into a compelling story, complete with the ebbs and flows that the best sports films possess. Although some of the music choices are a bit too obvious, the overall effect raises blood pressure and provides a keen inside eye into NFL locker rooms.

What will it cost you? Only 22 minutes.
