I don’t know about you, but the Fast and the Furious series just haven’t been as good since the first installation. Why is that, you might ask? I think it’s because of the loss of Vin Diesel as one of the leads. He helped make the movie a success with his performance. After his cameo in the most recent Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift it’s been speculated that he might return for a fourth installment. Well, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he has!
Well, I may be getting a bit ahead of myself. Actually both Diesel and Paul Walker are in negotiations to join the project, which has yet to be named. Diesel will be producing it through his One Race Films Banner. Justin Lin and Chris Morgan, who were responsible for Tokyo Drift, are also slated to be returning. I hope that these two do a better job than they did with the last one, because it was mediocre at best for me. My favorite scene was… that’s right, at the end, when Dominic Toretto was shown revving up his sweet ride.
Hopefully, the re-injection of Vin Diesel and Paul Walker can reinvigorate the franchise. I really hope so, because The Fast and the Furious was one of the best movies I saw in the summer of 2001. I actually paid to see it, twice! Unheard of when you work in a movie theatre.
Diesel’s most recent on-screen role was in Sidney Lumet’s “Find Me Guilty” and next stars in Fox’s “Babylon A.D.”
