‘Tron’ To Do Battle with ‘Smurfs’ and ‘Green Hornet’

Holy Hell, I couldn’t care less about Tron: Legacy – mostly because I’d never seen the original until about a year ago and I think it’s one of those films you have to see when you’re a young geek contemplating whether to join the chess team or learn computer science – but the prospect of seeing the Tron guy slaughter hundreds upon thousands of Smurfs and then disc-bludgeoning The Green Hornet is too good to pass up.

Sadly, he will only be doing monetary battle with those figures since Disney has chosen to release Tron: Legacy onto the world on December 17th, 2010.

That’s right! The movie you’ve been hearing about for three years, the movie that showed footage two years ago at Comic-Con and then again at this year’s Comic-Con, will still have another Comic-Con at which to showcase itself!

I’m sure for Tron fans, a year and four months probably seems like light years from now, but it’ll give it sometime for the buzz to grow even bigger I’m sure. Seems like Disney is swinging for the fences here and pointing toward the outfield a bit, choosing a high-yield date that’s already occupied by two family cartoons (Smurfs and Yogi Bear) and a Seth Rogen vehicle and geek-drawing film in The Green Hornet.

What do you think? Would you go see Tron over The Green Hornet?
