Trailer For ‘The Last Seven’ Is A Perfect British Tease

I’m a sucker for films that plop a handful of characters smack dab in the middle of a truly engaging and interesting mystery. Not a murder mystery mind you, but one where no one seems to know what the hell is going on or how they got there. It’s not a common theme due mostly to how easy it is to screw up when it comes time for the big reveal, but sometimes the movie works (Cube), sometimes it doesn’t (Unknown), and sometimes it comes so close you can taste John Cusack’s liberal agenda (Identity).

The Last Seven is a brand new DVD release in the UK that looks to fit happily into this very precise genre. Seven people, five men and two women, awaken in modern day London only to discover they appear to be the last seven in existence. What happened? And more importantly, what’s going to happen next?

I’m digging it. Only two of the actors are recognizable to a Yank like me (Danny Dyer and Tamer Hassan), but it’s the premise that truly sells the film. And it’s nice to see a trailer/teaser that doesn’t feel compelled to give everything away. Marketing for the film includes a series of character sheets, one for each of the seven, but there’s also an eighth sheet for something… other. Check out a few of the sheets below.

The official synopsis is short but sweet…

Seven strangers wake up in a deserted London with no memory of who they are or what has happened. As they wander the empty streets and try to piece together their memories, someone – or something – seems to be following them, and is coming for each of them.”

The Last Seven is currently available on DVD and Bluray from AmazonUK, and I hope to have a review soon.
