This Surrogates Feature Will Rip Your Face Off

Maybe it’s because I just saw the B-movie-level bad Gamer from two filmmakers that clearly believe their audience is already having a seizure and plans cinematography accordingly, but this feature for Surrogates looks fantastic. The two movies have fairly similar science fiction elements – namely the use of a real-life avatar to interact in a true physical world. In Gamer, the avatars are played by humans that are controllable remotely by sweaty, sex-obsessed losers but in Surrogates, the avatars are robots.

I was honestly blown away by some of this footage. It looks like director Jonathan Mostow is doing some very cool things – especially playing around with the enhanced abilities of the robots – alongside what promises to be a trenches of thought look at a world where no one interacts with anyone else except through the human-like faces wrapped around steel and metal. With any hope, the movie will be a solid blend of detective story, science fiction and action.
