The Switch Trailer: Aniston, Bateman, And Baby Batter

The Switch

How long can you keep baby batter on the shelf before it goes bad? I ask because this flick’s been pushed back a few times already by a struggling Miramax, but now they’re settling on a later summer release. We’ll have to wait to see if that date holds or if the movie ends up bumped yet again (or released straight to DVD).

Anyways. The Switch is the newly renamed comedy starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman about artificial insemination, mistaken identity, and the perils of sticking kitchen utensils up your bajango. It was originally called The Baster… a title that’s simultaneously better and worse then the new one. Check out the trailer.

Looks pretty damn sitcom-worthy doesn’t it? And I swear Aniston already did this movie with Paul Rudd back in the nineties… On the bright side we’ll get to see the eternally odd and wonderful Jeff Goldblum as well as Patrick Wilson on the big screen again, so there’s that.

The official synopsis from Miramax is below.

Jennifer Aniston stars alongside Jason Bateman in this offbeat comedy as Kassie, a smart, fun-loving single woman who, despite her neurotic best friend Wally’s objections, decides it’s time to have a baby even if it means doing it by herself… with a little help from a charming sperm donor (Patrick Wilson). But, unbeknownst to her, Kassie’s plans go awry because of a last-minute switch that isn’t discovered until seven years later when Wally finally gets acquainted with Kassie’s cute, though slightly neurotic, son. From the people behind “Little Miss Sunshine” and “Juno” comes “The Switch,” due in theaters this summer.”

Good god Miramax, could that have been any more poorly written? The Switch hits theaters August 20th. (Supposedly.) The trailer is also available in HD over at Apple.com.

What do you think of the trailer? Bateman deserves so much better don’t you think?
