‘The Raid 2: Berandal’ Full Trailer Is Pure Bliss

I normally wouldn’t watch a trailer in advance for a film I’m already excited about, but the last time I tried posting a teaser without actually looking at it things didn’t quite work out all that well. So this time I actually sat through all two minutes and thirty four seconds of the first full trailer for The Raid 2: Berandal.

It is a thing of beauty.

You should probably just go ahead and watch it now too.

Anyone who’s seen Gareth EvansThe Raid knows to expect some epic action and fight scenes in the sequel, but there are some fantastic-looking shots in this trailer too. It’s not often action films come packaged in real artistry, and when you add in the fact that the film reportedly runs a whopping 148 minutes? Pure bliss.

Berandal picks up mere hours after the ending of part one as Rama (Iko Uwais) goes undercover to take down some vicious crimes lords. Wonderfully bloody and operatic chaos ensues. Evans’ Twitter feed is always entertaining, but he recently revealed some details about the film’s production that make our anticipation grow even further. The team spent ninety days just planning the final fight, and all of the plot details in the trailer above are from the film’s first act only.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances our expectations of its greatness will be confirmed in a couple weeks when The Raid 2: Berandal premieres at Sundance 2014 with us in attendance.
