There’s Bruce Wayne, witness to the destruction at the end of Man of Steel.
There’s Bruce Wayne’s parents being murdered for the 700th time in the history of cinema.
There’s Bruce Wayne vowing to destroy Superman because of the threat he presents toward humanity.
Oh wait, there’s an awesome shot of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
Did Zack Snyder just drop an awesome trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It appears so. The trailer, which debuted at Comic-Con this morning, is just over 3-minutes of hyper serious DC Cinematic Universe explosiveness. Focusing on Ben Affleck’s Batman, the trailer puts the film’s titular conflict into perspective. It also checks in on new and old characters, including Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Holly Hunter as a Senator, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and even the remnants of Batman’s sidekick Robin (and his long-standing battle with The Joker). But it’s Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor who gets much of the trailer’s best lines. Because as things escalate in Gotham and Metropolis, the red capes are coming…
Here’s the thing we should not overlook: Zack Snyder is very good at making trailers. His movies have proven to be less satisfying. So while the hype for Batman v Superman is white hot, don’t let that cloud the fact that there’s a long way to go.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is due in theaters March 25, 2016.
