The Era of Jessica Chastain The Badass is Upon Us

Teasers for trailers aren’t usually that interesting. They are far too short to be interesting. But every once in a while, something awesome happens.

Such is the case with the teaser for the trailer for The Huntsman: Winter’s War, which dropped online today. It’s a 15-second preview of a trailer that will be online in full tomorrow. There’s no reason why we can’t just wait and talk about it when there’s 2-minutes of the movie online. But let’s slow this thing down a bit and celebrate the wonderful imagery that comes at the :07 mark of this teaser.

First, the teaser for the trailer:

Now, relive the killer moment:

Shortly after this teaser dropped, I spotted this insightful nugget in my Twitter feed:

the bad ass chastain era began with a most violent year and i pray it never lets up

This is spot on. Anyone who saw A Most Violent Year or The Martian knows that we’re living in the era of a most badass Jessica Chastain. She’s been on a fierce tear lately and her twirling some big knives feels like her going next level. It’s no coincidence that this film also stars Charlize Theron, who recently kicked ass in Mad Max: Fury Road, and Emily Blunt, who did similarly awesome action things in Edge of Tomorrow. Also, Chris Hemsworth is there. But this isn’t about him.

This movie could be a complete mess, for all we know. Remember, we’ve seen a whole 15-seconds of footage thus far. What we can confirm pretty easily is that Winter’s War has assembled the most impressively badass assortment of leading ladies we’ve seen in a long time. It has all of our favorites. How could it possibly go wrong?

For Chastain, we can only hope this continues her ascension as a cinematic badass. She’s on everyone’s list to play a superhero. Maybe this is one small, snowy step in the right direction. Either way, I can’t wait to see what The Warrior has in store.

The full trailer drops tomorrow, 11/18. Until then, let’s bask in the glory of these mean-mugging posters.
