Oh Hi, Mark. ‘The Disaster Artist’ Trailer has Arrived

James Franco as Tommy Wiseau. The 'Disaster Artist' buzz continues to grow.

James Franco’s The Disaster Artist is currently making its way through the festival circuit. It premiered earlier this year at SXSW and just recently made a showing at TIFF’s Midnight Madness series. The film is based on the making of the disastrous film, The Room, that was created by Tommy Wiseau. The Disaster Artist stars Franco as Wiseau, Dave Franco, Seth Rogen, Alison Brie, Zac Efron and Bryan Cranston.

The public won’t get a chance to get into the fun until the film releases limited on December 1st and then wider on December 9th. Apparently, James Franco was born to play Tommy Wiseau because he has been getting raves for his performance.

Judging by the new trailer, The Disaster Artist looks to adapt the life of Tommy Wiseau before and during the filming of The Room. Wiseau didn’t have many people believing he could become a star in Hollywood, so it took measures into his own hands and created his idea of a masterpiece. In some ways, it could be considered the greatest disaster of all-time. In that sense maybe he did create a masterpiece. Who could’ve imagined that from something so bad, something great could be made? That looks to be exactly the case with The Disaster Artist.

Many of the iconic sequences were recreated for the film as seen in the previous teaser trailer. Even watching the trailer it is hard to imagine how The Room actually was completed and released. Our own critic wasn’t so hot on the film but given the warm reception to the film and its performances out of SXSW and TIFF, A24 might have another winner on their hands when The Disaster Artist opens in December.
