Netflix’s prestige drama The Crown returns with a riveting new trailer.

The Crown is making its triumphant return to the streaming service at the beginning of December. It will also signal the last time Clarie Foy and Matt Smith portray the characters of Queen Elizabeth II and Duke Philip.

The full-length trailer shows what we can expect for the final moments for this time period in Queen Elizabeth’s life. The idea for The Crown was always to separate the Queen’s life into three different segments each consisting of two seasons. It will be fascinating to see how the show transitions into a third season with an entirely new cast including Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II.

Well before we get ahead of ourselves, the new season will feature new performances from Michael C. Hall as JFK, Jodi Balfour as Jackie Kennedy, and Matthew Goode as Antony Armstong-Jones. The storyline this time will focus on many events during the ’60s including an illegal war in Egypt and the downfall of the third Prime Minister.

The first season of The Crown was extremely well-received and as far as prestige fit the bill nicely for Netflix. The only issue perhaps is that the show hasn’t quite captured the same cultural attention of something like Downton Abbey. Not only does that shadow loom large over The Crown, but now we’ll see if it can continue the goodwill the first season brought the show.

The Crown Season 2 premiers on December 8th on Netflix.
