That Movie About Lawyer James Franco and a Teen Porn Star Is Getting Released, Here’s the Poster to Prove It
Performance artist James Franco tangles himself up with so many projects that it’s nearly impossible to keep track of them all – in fact, it seems likely that even Franco has forgotten about Stephen Elliott’s About Cherry (formerly known just as Cherry), but we certainly haven’t! The film premiered back at the Berlin Film Festival, but even buzz words like “coked out lawyer James Franco” and “teenage porn star” and “also Heather Graham” didn’t seem to put too much heat on the thing (our own Cole Abaius even missed seeing it, and he lives in Germany), and it’s been but a fuzzy dream since we saw the film’s trailer back in February.
Yet, About Cherry is still a film and it’s actually getting released later this year. We even have its salacious new poster to prove it! The film follows teenager Angelina (Ashley Hinshaw), who runs away from home with her best pal (Dev Patel, for some reason), armed only with some nudie pix her boyfriend snapped of her and the cash proceeds from selling off such pix (nice boyfriend, Angelina). Once in the dreamy pornland of San Francisco, Angelina gets caught up with bartending, stripping, a coked-out lawyer played by Franco, and adult films. It is every parent’s worst nightmare. IFC Midnight will release About Cherry in theaters on September 21, with a VOD release hitting on August 9.
