Sid Meier’s Civilization has eaten up so many of your hours, what’s another three minutes?

The Civilization game series is known for its long cinematic intros that are both extraordinarily loud and frustrating to skip after you watch them once when you first install the iteration. Their magic fades quickly when you just want to play the damn game. But what if that intro was the actual meat of the media?

That’s what one editor decided, as the magic hadn’t worn off for him, so he decided to make a trailer for a film adaptation of the game series which has your kingdom/nation/horde fight, persuade, or out-research all your human competitors to make your society the best.

Nick Gibb edited this short trailer together from 32 historical epics – finding clips emulating control over India, America, and England to name just a few – and tracking civilization’s progress from serfdom to the space station.
