Just last night, my friend Patches alerted me via a text-based cellular message that Robert Rodriguez and Danny Trejo were downing some brews over at a local bar called Nomad. And who could blame them? Monday night is $1 Tecate night. The word spreading through the bar was that they were celebrating wrapping – either a scene or, less likely, the whole damned Machete. Still no word on whether Ethan Maniquis was there co-drinking with Rodriguez, though.
And with that, we’ve now become Gawker. We can officially shut down.
Rodriguez and company can also shut down their search for distribution, because Sony has purchased the bulk of international distribution rights to the flick, continuing a partnership built by their involvement with El Mariachi and the other Mexico trilogy films.
If anyone asks, my new reason for heading out to the bars is to catch an interview with the filmmaker. That sounds like a good enough excuse right? I’ve been dying to ask him what his perfect Sunday is.
