Based on the title alone, you might think that this post is some sort of joke, seeing as the former “Even Stevens” star has obviously already taken some sort of intelligence enhancing drug. To support this theory, lets take a look at his most recent projects:
- Bobby – Under-rated, I tell you.
- Disturbia – Extremely solid flick.
- Surf’s Up – Oscar nominated.
- Transformers – Mega-huge!
- Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – Can you say heir to the Indy throne?
- Transformers 2 – Coming soon… Also Mega-huge.
So as you can see, this dude went from a one episode role on “Suddenly Susan” to being one of the most sought after names in Hollywood with relative ease — there is certainly nothing dumb about that.
I tell you all of that to tell you this: Shia LaBeouf’s next project, alongside that highly-anticipated Transformers sequel, is to star in the screen adaptation of Alan Gynn’s 2002 novel “The Dark Fields”. The story centers on a young man who comes into possession of the ultimate smart pill, and the events that ensue.
Do you see the reference now? Alright, I know that it is a long way to go to get down to the news, but there isn’t really anything else here worth reporting. Universal is making the movie, Neil Burger (The Illusionist) will direct and Leslie Dixon, writer of Hairspray and the upcoming remake of The Birds starring Naomi Watts, will write the script. I will report back when I know more, or have something interesting to say, whichever comes first.
