Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Trejo have both been announced as joining Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables.  To that I can only say… sweet.  And to that I can only add… it’s not too late Jean Claude!  Apologize for your egotistical idiocy and get your ass to South America!  Anyway…

As exciting and awesome as this news is, be aware that Schwarzenegger’s role is reported to be strictly a cameo and he’ll be playing himself, the Governor of California.  Apparently Stallone’s character had some dealings with the man previously and their paths cross again before the gang of rough and ready, action hero mercenaries head south of the border to take down the evil dictator.  Latino Review reports that Trejo, known best for the faux Grindhouse trailer Machete, is also joining the film and will most likely be playing one of the dictator’s henchmen.

If you’re keeping score on Stallone’s incredibly awesome cast, it currently looks like this.  Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Forest Whitaker, Mickey Rourke, and Eric Roberts (who replaced Ben Kingsley).  Stallone’s roster continues to impress, and reportedly he’s revisiting the script to ensure the characters and story live up to the action potential and star power.  So again I say… Jean Claude Van-Damme!

That’s #1 Aleric!  No cynicism!  One positive posting down, two to go!
