SAG Honors Its Own – The Complete Winners List

SAG Awards

As it turns out, there’s another awards ceremony that went down last night while we were all fuming about a few bad nominations. The Screen Actors’ Guild has a great voice because its an insular group. We can rant and rave about The Academy, but SAG is celebrating its own – something tough to argue with.

But I’m sure we’ll try anyway. Here are the winners from last night’s much-more-entertaining-than the-Golden-Globes broadcast. The winners are boldified:

Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama

  • Richard Jenkins, The Visitor
  • Frank Langella, Frost/Nixon
  • Sean Penn, Milk
  • Brad Pitt, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  • Mickey Rourke, The Wrestler

Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama

  • Anne Hathaway, Rachel Getting Married
  • Angelina Jolie, Changeling
  • Melissa Leo, Frozen River
  • Meryl Streep, Doubt
  • Kate Winslet, Revolutionary Road

Best Supporting Actor

  • Josh Brolin, Milk
  • Robert Downey Jr., Tropic Thunder
  • Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Doubt
  • Heath Ledger, The Dark Knight
  • Dev Patel, Slumdog Millionaire

Best Supporting Actress

  • Amy Adams, Doubt
  • Penelope Cruz, Vicky Cristina Barcelona
  • Viola Davis, Doubt
  • Taraji Henson, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  • Kate Winslet, The Reader

Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture

  • The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  • Doubt
  • Frost/Nixon
  • Milk
  • Slumdog Millionaire

A pretty serious list of winners with no real surprises. Still, some interesting results. Penn beat out Rourke this time around. Winslet took Best Supporting when The Academy didn’t even nominate her in that category. More love given to Slumdog, giving it even more clout going into the Oscars. Are all these wins a consolation prize for when they lose the Academy Award or is another win like this an indication that it’s a sure thing for Best Picture?

What do you think? Deserving wins? Anyone robbed?
