Guy Ritchie’s ‘Sherlock Holmes’ Villain Should Be Strong

Mark Strong to play the Villain in Sherlock HolmesGuy Ritchie may be having difficulty getting RocknRolla out, but at least he’s nabbed a culprit to face Robert Downey Jr. in the upcoming Sherlock Holmes.

Digital Spy reports that Mark Strong will be taking on the role of Robert Downey Jr.’s as of now unnamed adversary. And for a second you were thinking Madonna got the part, right? Strong has been in two other Ritchie projects, RockNRolla and Revolver, while previously landing roles in Syriana, Stardust, and Sunshine, where he played a character that may make any teenager rethink fake baking.

I’m still surprised that there are two Sherlock Holmes films coming out so closely together, but at least we will get a chance to see the great Downey Jr., Sasha Baron Cohen, and Will Ferrell give interpretations of the part. I just pray the latter of the two isn’t called Sherlock Holmes and the Hounds of Ron Burgundy.

Do you like the casting of Mark Strong in Sherlock Holmes? Who is your favorite villain?
