Rest In Peace Shogun of Harlem

Sho Nuff

This is some of the saddest news I’ve seen recently. It seems like we’ve lost a ton of talented entertainers over the last month, and, unfortunately, now Julius Carry has to be added to that list.

According to several sources including BET, Julius Carry – probably best known for his cult role as Sho’Nuff in the greatest film ever made, ever, The Last Dragon – died from complications related to pancreatic cancer on Tuesday.

He was a fantastic character actor who appeared in a ton of sit-coms and television shows, my personal favorite being his role as Lord Bowler in The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.

Of course, nothing can compare to his turn as the baddest mofo low down ’round this town. Anyone who can command a troop of people to loudly announce his arrival to a movie after the movie’s already started is a bad ass. Today, the world lost a bad ass.

If anyone wants to join me, I’ll be watching The Last Dragon in honor of Julius Carry tonight and answering loudly when he asks his followers, “Who da masta?!” You were the master, Mr. Carry, and you’ll be missed.
