Resident Evil: Afterlife Picks Up a Cast, Heads to Los Angeles

Screen Gems has just sent out word this evening that they’ve finalized the cast and the story for Resident Evil: Afterlife, the fourth movie in the series based on the insanely popular Resident Evil video games. This time around, Paul W.S. Anderson will come back to the director’s chair, a place he has not been (at least in this series) since the first film, working off of a script the he wrote.

It will star Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Spencer Locke, Wentworth Miller (Prison Break), Shawn Roberts, Boris Kodjoe, Kim Coates, Norman Yeung and Kasey Barnfield.

Here’s the official plot from the studio:

In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead leads them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

Sounds pretty formulaic, but they did manage to make a zombie-ridden version of Las Vegas look cool in Resident Evil: Extinction (a movie I enjoyed more than most), so I’m interested to see how they deal with Los Angeles.
