“Old news: What were movie fans talking about on May 7, 1999?” – Matt Singer at The Dissolve looks back at, whoa, a movie that definitely never got made. This is what the success of Austin Powers almost wroth. On the surface, it seems impossible to make a full movie from a quirky talk show sketch, but Mike Myers made it work (twice) with Wayne’s World, so who knows. Maybe The Dieter Movie could have worked out. If only Myers hadn’t hated his own script.
