Have you ever seen Comedians of Comedy? It’s a wonderful look into the lives of comedians and the brainchild of Patton Oswalt. If you have seen it, then I have no doubt that you’d agree with me when I say that Patton Oswalt is a very funny man. Perhaps one of the best, if I might dive headfirst into an empty pool of hyperbole. That said, whether or not he’s been cast in Harold and Kumar 3 is unconfirmed, and thus irrelevant. However, on speculation, him being cast in Harold and Kumar 3 is – to quote one of the franchise’s other stars – Legendary.
All of this stems from Twitter, as if there was any other place for your movie news these days. John Cho began with a tweet saying: “In Michigan. @pattonoswalt in my vicinity, holding a sketch pad, duct tape, and a reel to reel audio recorder. Eeesh.” To which Oswalt responded: “Maybe it’s this Michigan air, but @JohnTheCho is looking huggable, chloroform-able, and bury-able.”
This has lead the blogosphere to the following conclusion: Patton Oswalt will make – at minimum – an appearance in Harold and Kumar 3, previously (and possibly still) known as A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas. To make matters worse (but probably not), screenwriter Jon Hurwitz (@JonHurwitz) tweeted the following: “Cannot confirm whether or not @pattonoswalt was cast in Harold & Kumar 3, or if he’s simply on an espionage mission for the Ruskies.”
I vote mission for the Ruskies, outdated espionage reference or not. Either way, Patton Oswalt is on the Michigan set where Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) will make their return to the realm of the stoner in order to give us a few (probably more than a few) laughs. And for Christmas, an added bonus.
We owe this knowledge and excitement to Twitter, I suppose. And these set photos that emerged over at FirstShowing.
Final note: If you’re on Twitter, follow Jon Hurwitz (@JonHurwitz). I like that guy, and you should too.
