New ‘Paper Man’ Clip Shows Reynolds In His Super Suit

So Ryan Reynolds isn’t going to be wearing anything when he’s shooting Green Lantern, but he’s definitely got the ridiculous standard-issue Superhero suit here in Paper Man. I don’t say that negatively either – there’s something great about the costuming here because his character Captain Excellent is a figment of someone’s imagination, and that classic-style suit works really well for that.

He’s not the only one on display here, and we’ve got a couple images from the flick just in case you wanted a close-up of Emma Stone and a shot of Jeff Daniels looking for his contact on the ground.

Judging by the clip, it seems like this is an art house film featuring a Superhero. As someone who loves both worlds, I couldn’t be happier with that concept. Super was a great entry into that genre, and with strong actors like Daniels, Reynolds, and Stone, I’m actually pretty psyched to see this one.

We’ve got writers and directors playing around more and more with the Superhero genre lately, and that can only be a good thing. As I pointed out in my editorial on Kick-Ass not being a game changer – whenever there’s variation on themes, it’s a sign that people are more interested in a topic, and at this rate, Superheroes may very well end up representing our culture when film fans look back on the late 19990s through today.

Either that, or it’s going to be remakes, so keep your fingers crossed for Supers.
