Be cool, ‘Get Shorty’ and more are coming to Amazon Prime this month!
Prime September

Amazon Prime is the only streaming service with a cost that also gets you free shipping, and that my friends is a deal. They’re in the Original programming game, but their biggest offering remains the ton of films available to watch anytime for Prime members.

The complete list of titles hitting Amazon Prime this month — September 2019 — is below, but first I’m going to shower some affection and point some eyeballs towards a few specific titles.

Amazon Prime Pick of the Month

No Way Out

Look, I love me some Kevin Costner movies, and I’m not shy about it. The back end of his career has revealed some wonky choices, but the dude was killing it in the 80s with films like Silverado (1985), The Untouchables (1987), and Field of Dreams (1989). One of my favorites, though, remains the smart, thrilling, and twisty No Way Out (1987). The third and arguably best adaptation of Kenneth Fearing’s novel The Big Clock, the film is firing on all cylinders from beginning to end with its tale of passion, deception, and bureaucracy. It hits Prime on September 30th, and I can’t recommend it enough.

An Expensive Amazon Original!

Amazon Prime, like Netflix and other distributors, shops around film festivals looking for films to buy and share with audiences, and one of the biggest pickups occurred at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. The streaming service bought the rights to the Late Night, a comedy about women, inclusion, and late-night talk shows for $13 million. It didn’t quite pay off in theaters, but now the movie is coming to the comfort of your home theater. Is it any good? Let’s find out together when it premieres on September 6th.

More Cinematic Perfection!

Best Comedy Movies Election

Looking to watch (or re-watch) a movie you know is brilliant? Prime is adding a few absolute modern classics this month that fit the bill. Election (1999) made our list of the best films of the 90s, and it remains hilarious and wonderfully mean-spirited perfection. Matthew Broderick plays a teacher unhappy with his life who decides to go to war with a teen (Reese Witherspoon) who appears to have it all, and the results are magical. Witness (1985) is a fantastic collaboration between director Peter Weir and star Harrison Ford that follows a city cop’s journey into Amish country with corrupt baddies on his trail and romance in his pants. Both films arrive on September 30th.
