What’s New to Stream on Amazon Prime for November 2019

Tim Burton's last worthwhile movie hits Prime this month... can you guess what it is?
Prime Video November

Amazon Prime is the only streaming service with a cost that also gets you free shipping, and that my friends is a deal. They’re in the Original programming game, but their biggest offering remains the ton of films available to watch anytime for Prime members.

The complete list of titles hitting Amazon Prime this month — November 2019 — is below, but first I’m going to shower some affection and point some eyeballs towards a few specific titles.

Amazon Prime Pick of the Month

Julius Avery’s Overlord (2018) is a big B-movie filled with action, gore, and personality, and you bastards let it fail at the box-office. Well you’re getting a second chance to get in on the fun as this gem of a flick is now on Prime. It’s American GIs fighting against Nazis — both the living and the dead — and it’s a blast. Don’t miss it again.

The Last Great Tim Burton Movie

Look, your mileage may vary, but Tim Burton may be kaput as a director of note. His last five live-action features — Dumbo (2019), Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (2016), Big Eyes (2014), Dark Shadows (2012), and Alice in Wonderland (2010) are films you’d never willingly revisit — and you have to go all the way back to 2007’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street for one that’s actually legit fun. It’s a gory, funny musical about cannibalism, and while yes, it does star Johnny Depp, it’s still a great time at the movies.

Two new 2019 releases telling wholly disparate tales both center around a home invasion, of sorts, and the two could hardly be farther apart over at Rotten Tomatoes. The Souvenir (2019, premiering 11/14) sits at 90% while The Fanatic (2019, premiering 11/20) has settled for a lowly 18%. The former is about a young woman who falls in love with someone who’s nothing but bad news, and she discovers it (and continually puts up with it) when he moves in to her flat. The latter follows a mentally challenged John Travolta who’s stalking his favorite actor to the point of breaking into his house. I’m of the opinion that neither movie is good, but you can bet your ass that if I had to re-watch one of them it would be The Fanatic.
