What’s New to Stream on Amazon Prime for February 2020

Come for the movie about a rampaging bull in India, but stay for the new show about Al Pacino hunting Nazis in NYC.
Prime February

Amazon Prime is the only streaming service with a cost that also gets you free shipping, and that my friends is a deal. They’re in the original programming game, but their biggest offering remains the ton of films available to watch anytime for Prime members.

The complete list of titles hitting Amazon Prime this month — February 2020 — is below, but first I’m going to shower some affection and point some eyeballs towards a few specific titles.

Amazon Prime Pick of the Month

A small Indian village sees a bit of excitement when a bull, mere moments away from being slaughtered for meat, escapes into the surrounding forest. Some of the villagers set out to catch it only to find it running circles around them, leaving mayhem in its path, and ultimately delivering a searing metaphor for male aggression. Jallikattu (2019) is a stunner that’s gorgeous despite being low budget, and while the pacing is a mix of the methodical and the manic it all builds to something truly memorable. It stampedes onto Prime starting February 4th.

Two of 2019’s Most Acclaimed Films!

The Shia LaBeouf re-imagining continues with Honey Boy (2019), an autobiographical look at his own childhood as a child actor with a demanding and irresponsible father. LaBeouf wrote the film and stars as his own father, and it’s an alternately sad and sweet look at a relationship fracturing before our eyes. It arrives on February 7th and is worth a watch. Lulu Wang’s The Farewell (2019) says hello starting February 12th and tells a different kind of true story — one built on a lie. It’s very funny at times, extremely emotional at others, and all around pleasant from beginning to end. Both movies won over critics, and when have they ever been wrong?

Nazi Punks, Fuck Off!

No, the brilliant Green Room (2015) isn’t coming to Prime this month, but the Jordan Peele-produced Hunters is starting on February 21st. The new series imagines a group of Nazi hunters in late 70s New York City who stumble onto a plot to launch the Fourth Reich right here in the United States. Lots of bloody murder follows, so yeah, this is a must watch — and that’s even before you consider the cast which includes Logan Lerman, Al Pacino, Carol Kane, Josh Radnor, Saul Rubinek, Lena Olin, Dylan Baker, and James Le Gros.
