New ‘Devil’ Trailer Traps You In an Elevator with Satan

The name of M. Night Shyamalan may have been greatly tarnished by M. Night Shyamalan, but there’s no denying that this trailer for Devil makes the film that he produced (but didn’t direct, if that helps) look engaging and deadly.

It begs the classic question of what you’d do if you were trapped inside an elevator and, instead of a porn star played by Carla Gugino, it’s the great Satan himself hiding amongst your crew.

Answer the question yourself, and take a look at the trailer after the jump.

Great use of sound. Great set up for the characters and situation without revealing all that much about the second or third act. Over all, this is a great teaser that should stand as a reference for the rest of the film’s trailers.

This is Drew Dowdle’s first time as a director, but he wrote and executively produced Quarantine which displays a keen understanding of small spaces and the human love of paranoia. Plus, the cast is full of character actor goodness – Chris Messina (who was fantastic in his small role in Away We Go), Geoffrey Arend (who you remember from 500 Days of Summer, Super Troopers, and being the luckiest man on the planet), and the phenomenally seasoned Jenny O’Hara.

Hopefully it doesn’t turn out to be aliens running an experiment or something.
