‘Molly’s Game’ Trailer: Jessica Chastain Isn’t Breaking The Law

When the chips are down, make sure you have an out.

When the chips are down, make sure you have an out.

When Jessica Chastain signs on for a part there are certain criteria in place. It has to be a part of a strong female character, that is far more than window dressing. She has to feel confident about the material as well. So when you have Jessica Chastain signing on to a project, chances are it is going to be good.

In Aaron Sorkin’s Molly’s Game, Chastain plays Molly Bloom, a former skier and Olympic hopeful who is under FBI investigation. It would seem that the woman with the golden resume has decided to run a high stake international poker game. Everyone is trying to understand why Molly would take on such a risk and ruin her life.

This is Sorkin’s first time in the directors’ chair. He is well known for writing series like The West Wing and The Newsroom, but his movie screenplays for the films The Social Network and Steve Jobs have received considerable praise as well. If early raves out of Toronto are anything to go by, it would seem he has successfully crafted his directorial debut and Chastain is as good as ever and throws her hat into the Best Actress ring.

Molly’s Game is not only the Jessica Chastain show, but it is littered with great supporting performances from Idris Elba, Kevin Costner, Brian d’Arcy James, Michael Cera, and Chris O’Dowd.

Molly’s Game hits theaters November 22
