It appears that Miley Cyrus is looking to grow up and get into the movie business, but it doesn’t appear that she’s ready to do it without her Disney handlers just yet. In addition to dating a 20-year old underwear model, the often sexy generally wholesome singer and star of Hannah Montana is looking for her new project, which will be based on an adaptation by The Notebook writer Nicholas Sparks, to do for what A Walk to Remember did for Mandy Moore. The translation, for those of us who know better, means nothing — A Walk to Remember was okay, at best.
Either way, the currently untitled adaptation is going to be adapted from a Sparks novel that is not yet written, but will be published in the fall of 2009. As Sparks explained, the process is “similar to the way it’s gone with movies based on my novels; it’s just out of order.” And while the plot is being kept under wraps, reports are saying that the Cyrus family’s achy-breaky heart was touched by the story’s connections to family, as well as its romantic tone.
The film is currently in development under the watchful eye of Disney-based Offspring Entertainment, and will reportedly go into production late next year.
What do you think of Miley Cyrus’ chances of making a successful jump into non-Hannah Montana roles?
